Meetings are scheduled as agreed by full Council at the Annual Meeting and usually meet every 12 weeks. Additional meetings may be called as and when needed.

The Joint Consultative Committee provides a forum for effective communication and consultation between all employees and the Council to:

·           bring together management and employees in consultation, with the object of furthering the aims and improving the efficiency of the Council.

·           afford a regular basis of consultation and negotiation, as appropriate, on matters relevant to the objectives stated above and also on matters appertaining to industrial relations, working and other arrangements and terms and conditions of employment which are not reserved for negotiations at national, provincial or other agreed local level.

·           give the employees concerned a wider interest and greater responsibility in these matters.

·           maintain an effective means of reporting back to Employees.
