The Joint Consultative
Committee should comprise 8 Elected Members and 8 Trade Union
Representatives selected jointly by the recognised Trade Unions
representing the interests of employees. Meetings are scheduled as
agreed by full Council at the Annual Meeting and usually meet every
12 weeks. Additional meetings may be called as and when
needed.
The Joint Consultative
Committee provides a forum for effective
communication and consultation between all employees and the
Council to:

bring together management and employees in consultation, with the
object of furthering the aims and improving the efficiency of the
Council.
·
afford
a regular basis of consultation and negotiation, as
appropriate, on matters relevant to the objectives stated above and
also on matters appertaining to industrial relations, working and
other arrangements and terms and conditions of employment which are
not reserved for negotiations at national, provincial or other
agreed local level.
·
give the employees concerned a wider interest and greater
responsibility in these matters.
·
maintain
an effective means of reporting back to
Employees.
